    • Thank you, Otto. It’s only once in a while I get to shoot this kind of affection between a parent and his or her child. I think it’s an important aspect of people’s lives to depict.

      I was also luck that the umbrella was so light coloured, patterned and cheerful-looking. It helped to make this such a positive photograph.

    • I agree, and I’m particularly pleased with this because it’s not your cliched brolly on a rainy day stroll shot. It’s a nurturing shot, and the brolly definitely is the device that drives that home as dad obviously uses it to keep some of the harsh summertime sun rays off of his daughter and himself.

      The image shows a commitment. He’s saying, “I’m your father. I love you very much and I’m going to do my best to take care of you.”
